The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have finally managed to open their account in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have registered a win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur as the visitors succumbed to their fourth consecutive defeat and the season seems to be ending soon for them this year as well. The Virat Kohli-led side made a plethora of mistakes on the field by dropping catches as now they need a miracle to turn things around.
Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane gave much-needed start during the chase for the Royals and the latter was dropped just on 1 by none other than Kohli and since then, nothing went RCB’s way in the second innings. Defending 159 runs, they bowled short and wide in the powerplay itself and the game was almost over by then. Though both the openers got dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal who once again bowled exceptionally well to get back purple cap, the result looked a predictable halfway through the chase.

Moreover, Umesh Yadav dropping Steve Smith in the 16th over when there were some chances of a comeback for RCB in the game, became the final nail in the coffin. Smith was dismissed when the victory was visible for the hosts and Rahul Tripathi finished the game in the final over with a six. The duo added an unbeaten stand of more than 50 runs as the Rajasthan Royals got over the line with seven wickets in hand and a ball to spare.
After being asked to bat first, the RCB openers gave a brilliant start to the team as Kohli and Parthiv Patel were back at the top. They added 49 runs together before Shreyas Gopal decided to run through the RCB line-up. He castled the RCB skipper first and then took a superb catch off his own bowling to dismiss AB de Villiers. Shimron Hetmyer’s disastrous season continued and again Gopal was the reason behind his dismissal.
Meanwhile, Parthiv was hitting the ball beautifully and he raced past the 50-run mark. Marcus Stoinis perfectly played second fiddle to him and proved to be the proper player in the middle-order for RCB. The RCB opener amassed 67 runs before getting out and then the duo of Stoinis and Moeen Ali put finishing touches to propel their team 158 runs for the loss of four wickets after 20 overs.

The score looked below par with dew expected in the second innings but the way RCB took off their guards, a slight better effort could’ve got them the game. However, the Royals made light work of the chase to register their first win of the season and they would love to maintain the winning ways.
Brief score:
Rajasthan Royals – 164/3 in 19.5 over (J Buttler: 59, S Smith: 38; Y Chahal: 2/17) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore – 158/4 in 20 overs (P Patel: 67; S Gopal: 3/12, J Archer: 1/47) by 7 wickets.

RCB buys players and treats them like set-square in a geometry box. Doesn't know how to use it. #IPL
