In the clash of titans, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. They named Mohit Sharma in the playing XI in place of Mitchell Santner while Mumbai Indians brought Rahul Chahar in place of Mayank Markande and Jason Behrendorff replaced Mitchell McClenaghan. Mumbai’s top-order crumbled badly in this game as they lost their first three wickets for 50 runs. Suryakumar Yadav held one end tight to score his first fifty of the season. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard gave a finishing touch to Mumbai’s innings with blazing cameos, which took their total to 170/5 in 20 overs.
Chennai didn’t get off to a desired good start in their quest to chase 171 runs down. They lost Ambati Rayudu in the first over for a golden duck and Shane Watson followed him in the pavilion four balls later. Suresh Raina was looking in good touch but Pollard grabbed a stunner to dismiss him. Kedar Jadhav showed some resistance but his fifty went in vain as no other batsmen gave him support. CSK managed just 133/8 in their 20 overs to lose the match by 37 runs.
