Mahendra Singh Dhoni is aware of the fact that his team is not good in fielding as the core of the team is aged over 30. But he believes they have the ability to make it up with their batting and bowling. Chennai Super Kings’ players have an average age 35 but still, they managed to lift the cup last year.
Chennai registered their second consecutive victory in two matches of IPL 2019 with the win against Delhi Capitals at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. Dhoni is 37 years old while Shane Watson is 35. Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis are 34 and Harbhajan Singh ages 38. Veteran South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir turned 40 today but still bowls his heart out.

“We are well covered in other areas. We will never be a great fielding side, but we can be a safe fielding side. Our Bowler’s might bleed a few runs here and there, but as long as we use our experience, we’ll make it up with our batting and bowling,” Dhoni said after their match against Delhi on Tuesday.
“You don’t want the XI to push too hard and get injured. We haven’t done well at the death, so plenty of areas to work on. But still, it is a good victory.”

Chennai won the game by six wickets after their bowlers restricted Delhi to 147 runs in 20 overs. Shane Watson gave them a blazing start and scored 44 runs in just 26 balls, which earned him the man of the match award.
Dhoni further added “The wicket turned more than expected in the first innings. In the second innings, there was enough dew to make it slightly easier to bat on. I thought the bowlers did very well to restrict Delhi to 147. Losing Ngidi at the start of the tournament was a big blow because he was our quickest bowler.”
Chennai’s next game is against Rajasthan Royals in Chennai on March 31.
