Rating: 7/10

Ravi Ashwin wasn’t retained by Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2018 and Kings XI Punjab went after him straightaway. He was seen handling the captaincy duty for the team last year. This was his maiden captaincy sting in the IPL and it came in two halves. The first of it was the first six matches of KXIP, where they won five of them and were sitting on the top of the three. The second half witnessed the similar dip in their form and they managed just one victory in eight matches.

Punjab finished on the seventh position like every other year, where they fail to reach through the playoffs. Ashwin was mixed with his captaincy skills and was doing average with his form. He grabbed just 10 wickets in 14 matches and conceded runs at an economy of 8. Keeping what this team is capable off in mind, the team management will ask Ashwin for a better result this year.
