Chennai was coming back from the suspension in IPL and Dhoni returned in helm to lead the team. During two years with Rising Pune Supergiant, he spent one year under Steve Smith’s leadership. IPL was missing Dhoni – the captain, whose team is synonymous with IPL. And the wait ended well in 2018.

Chennai Super Kings was in good form since the start of the league and Dhoni’s magic with the bat was on display. On one fine night in Bengaluru, he set the city on fire during the Southern Derby. He smashed 70 runs in just 34 balls, which included seven towering sixes. Dhoni was the third highest run scorer for CSK last year behind Ambati Rayudu and Shane Watson. Chennai’s winning juggernaut was unstoppable as they lift the IPL title after coming out of the ban.
