IPL 2020: All The CSK Members Test Negative For Coronavirus

The last week was quite terrifying for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp after 13 members of their IPL contingent including two players tested positive for coronavirus. Initially, CSK was scheduled to commence their pre-season camp from August 28, the Yellow Army was forced sent into another one week of quarantine. Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad were two cricketers who were unfortunately tested positive while other members were from CSK’s support staff.

However, according to the recent reports of The Times of India, in what would be a huge relief for the CSK camp and their fans, all members and players have tested negative for Covid-19 according to the test which was conducted on all players and support staff on Monday.

The members will also have to undergo another test on September 3 post which they can resume training and hit the field from September 5. Chahar and Gaekwad can be expected to ait for a little longer to resume training as they cannot hit the training session before September 12.

While senior Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has been delaying his departure to the UAE, some reports suggest that the veteran tweaker has also been considering pulling out of the tournament though no official confirmation has been made yet. Two overseas cricketers in Faf du Plessis and Lungi Ngidi had reached in Abu Dhabi on Monday and went straight into quarantine.

In what was the biggest blow to CSK’s IPL preparations, when the deputy skipper, Suresh Raina pulled out of the tournament citing personal reasons. Raina on Tuesday broke his silence and urged the Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh to take action against the unidentified attackers who massacred his uncle to death in an attack on his family in Pathankot.

Revealing the same, Raina wrote, “What happened to my family is Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua & both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical & is on life support.”

In another tweet, he added, “Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night & who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb.”
