The Delhi Capitals (DC) have registered their second consecutive win in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as they thrashed the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) comfortably by 44 runs. Surprisingly, the CSK was never looking in the match, but the credits also go to Capitals for covering all their bases and making sure they executed their plans after being invited to bat.
Prithvi Shaw played a crucial role in giving the much-needed impetus to DC early in the innings. Shaw played some beautiful strokes taking on the spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla. However, keeping the wickets in hand helped them to launch against the spin-bowling duo of CSK. Chawla once again went for runs in his first couple of overs while Jadeja conceded as many as 44 runs in his spell of 4 overs. The former, however, made a good comeback picking both the opening batsmen.

Dhawan was the first one to be dismissed as on the other hand, Shaw put on the exhibition of elegant shots during his knock of 64 runs in just 43 balls with the help of nine fours and a six to his name before getting out to Chawla. However, after those dismissals, the DC skipper struggled to get going and the 58-run stand with Rishabh Pant was broken in the 19th over.
But the duo took 40 deliveries to score those runs and one felt CSK pulled things back as Pant though did well to remain unbeaten on 37 off 25 which helped DC to reach a total of 175 runs for the loss of three wickets.
During the chase, CSK batsmen were looking dull as their openers Shane Watson and Murali Vijay struggled for the third match in a row. Faf du Plessis came out to bat at three but the slowness of their innings was the highlight. Amit Mishra and Axar Patel bowled well in the middle overs which barred the CSK batsmen to score consistent runs and the game kept slipping away from the three-time champions.

Du Plessis tried to accelerate but it wasn’t enough and when even MS Dhoni too came out to bat a position late once again sending Kedar Jadhav ahead of him. Faf was eventually dismissed in the 18th over trying to score quickly and even the might of MS Dhoni, with his waning power couldn’t do anything. Eventually, they finished on just 131 for the loss of six wickets after 20 overs to lose the game by 44 runs. The DC bowlers were absolutely brilliant on the day as they executed their plans well to restrict the opposition.
Match Summary:
Delhi Capitals – 175/3 in 20 overs (P Shaw: 64, R Pant: 37; P Chawla: 2/32) defeated Chennai Super Kings – 131/7 in 20 overs (F du Plessis: 43; K Rabada: 3/26, A Nortje: 2/21) by 44 runs

At the moment, #CSK are spending so much time packing that they are getting late reaching the station. And however much they sprint after that, the train isn't waiting for them.

Csk lacking intent at the top of the order. Hopefully it is addressed before it's too late. Going to be a fascinating viewing on how CSK go from here.

MS Dhoni – We are lacking momentum in the batting unit upfront, we have 6 days break and help us to come back stronger. #IPL2020
