Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally managed to register a consolation win after losing three successive matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They have managed to defeat the RCB easily as they chased down 146 with 8 wickets in hand. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden half-century in IPL before the bowlers did a brilliant job to restrict the opposition.
After opting to bat first, RCB opener Aaron Finch witnessed another failure as Sam Curran snapped him followed by the dismissal of up for 15 runs after which Devdutt Padikkal was also holed out at long-off to leave the team at 46/2. This is when Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers decided to build a partnership as the duo scored an odd boundary during the 82-run partnership in 68 balls.

However, the likes of Santner, Imran Tahir, and Ravindra Jadeja kept them quiet in the middle overs, and Kohli and ABD perished in slog overs. While Deepak Chahar got the better of the South African Superman, Kohli was dismissed by Curran not before he got to yet another fifty. RCB also managed to reach a total of 145/6 after 20 overs with Curran returning with the figures of 3/19 while Chahar (2/31) and Santner (1/23) were also economical.
Despite the slowness of the pitch, the CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis started off on a fiery note. Du Plessis scored a quick-fire 25 off 13 balls before Chris Morris got him. However, Gaikwad continued to bat with composure in the middle overs and was joined by Ambati Rayudu who made his intentions clear from the first ball.
The 67-run stand for the second wicket between Rayudu and Gaikwad left no chance for the Men in Green (RCB) to stand a chance. Yuzvendra Chahal got the better of Rayudu in the 14th over but then MS Dhoni gave much-needed support to the youngster, which scored his maiden IPL half-century.
