Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first. David Warner was back in the side after missing the last game that happened to be the last game of the first game of the IPL 2021. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer was back in the Delhi Capitals’ side after missing the first leg with a shoulder injury.

Anrich Nortje, who was also making a comeback, started the game with a fiery spell. He removed David Warner for a nought, which was his first duck in the IPL since April 2016. Nortje and Kagiso Rabada bowled with fire and didn’t allow SRH batsmen to get set in the middle.

Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha and Manish Pandey got starts but threw their wickets away cheaply, which resulted in a collapse. SRH looked like getting roll over for a modest total but Rashid Khan and Abdul Samad played handy cameos to take SRH’s total to 134/9 in 20 overs.

Nortje bagged two wickets for just 12 runs in four overs. Rabada also bagged three wickets while Axar Patel took two wickets as well.

Delhi Capitals, in response, had their dashing openers in the middle but Prithvi Shaw got out due to a brilliant running catch by Kane Williamson. Shikhar Dhawan, though, kept going and scored 42 runs before getting out to Rashid Khan.
