Mahendra Singh Dhoni has plenty of tricks under his sleeves. Whenever he does something out of the box, he leaves everyone in his awe. And Dhoni did something similar during the IPL 2021 match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. In order to save his wicket, Dhoni put a desperate full-stretched dive to go inside the crease. And no surprise, he did it quite easily.

Dhoni’s desperate dive against Rajasthan Royals

The incident occurred during the 15th over of CSK’s batting when Dhoni tapped Rahul Tewatia’s delivery towards the cover region and got off for a quick single. Ravindra Jadeja was on the non-striker end, who refused this risky run immediately.

Dhoni made quick amends and tried to rush back into his crease. The fielder at the cover was quick to release the ball and left Dhoni to make a big ground. However, Dhoni kept his calm and made a full-length dive to get inside his crease. The replays showed how tiny were the margins which denied Rajasthan Royals wicket of Dhoni.

Former Indian skipper came to bat after his team lost two wickets in the 14th over. He tried to up the ante and when he looked all set to blaze away in the death overs, newcomer Chetan Sakaria got batter of him in the 18th over. However, Dwayne Bravo and Sam Curran’s cameos helped CSK in posting a good total of 188 on the board.

Earlier, Sanju Samson asked CSK to bat first, who were given a quick start by Faf du Plessis. Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to get going once again but the South African stalwart was unmoved and scored 33 runs off just 17 balls. Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and Suresh Raina also chipped in with the bat in the middle overs. The onus lies upon CSK bowlers to defend this total against the hard-hitting batting lineup of Rajasthan Royals.
