IPL 2021: RR Chokes PKBS At Death, Wins By Two Runs, Twitter Reacts

Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals are locking horns in the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2021 in Dubai. Both teams have an indifferent season so far in the league but are currently eyeing to revive their campaign in the remaining matches in the UAE.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal made a huge opening partnership

KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first in Dubai against the Sanju Samson-led side. Both teams named a few changes in their playing XI due to several unavailable players. Adil Rashid and Aiden Markram are making their IPL debut for PKBS while Evin Lewis is drafted in the XI straightaway.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis got Rajasthan Royals off to a flying start. Both scored 54 runs for the opening wicket in 5.3 overs before Lewis got out to Arshdeep Singh. He scored 36 runs in 21 balls where he hit seven fours and one six.

Sanju Samson got out very soon but Jaiswal kept going strong from the other end. He scored 49 runs in 36 balls, where he hit six fours and two sixes. Liam Livingstone played few shots but got out due to a sensational catch by Fabian Allen.

Mahipal Lomror played a fine cameo and scored 43 runs in 17 balls, where he hit two fours and four sixes. RR were looking to cross the 200-run mark at one point but PKBS bowlers pulled things back very well. Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami showed a fine death bowling display. Arshdeep bagged a fine five-wicket haul and restricted RR to 185 in 20 overs.

In response, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal give a blistering start to Punjab Kings. Rahul was dropped thrice by RR fielders inside the powerplay. He crossed the 3,000-run mark during his innings. Agarwal and Rahul put a 120-run opening partnership and almost sealed the game.

Rahul got out after scoring 49 runs while Agarwal notched up his fifty but perished for 67 runs. Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram, then, got combined together and shared 57 runs for the third wicket.

Pooran got out for 32 in the last over when PKBS needed four runs in the last six balls. Kartik Tyagi kept his cool and dismissed Deepak Hooda as well. Equations came down from 3 runs on 3 balls to 3 runs on 1 ball. Tyagi delivered another yorker and won the game for RR at the death.
