The auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to take place next week. The BCCI has already released the list of players who will feature in the much-awaited auction, which will be taking place on December 18 in Jaipur. Initially, more than 1000 players had registered themselves for the auction.
But the BCCI’s filter suggested that only 346 cricketers have left with a chance of grabbing a deal. The 346 players will fight for the 70 available slots in the eight IPL franchises. Surprisingly, not a single Indian features in the highest reserve price bracket of ₹2 crore.
Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, Sam Curran and D’Arcy Short have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket of ₹2 crore. The southpaw pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who was the most expensive Indian player in the last auction, leads the pack of Indian players with a base price of ₹1.5 crore.

And as the auction day is coming closer with each passing day, the excitement is increasing among the fans. The franchises, on their part, are also making sure that the fans remain excited by asking them to vote for the players they want in the team. Recently, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) took to Twitter to take an opinion from the fans on the players they should buy.
Well, defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also followed suit, writing, “Ahoy #WhistlePoduArmy, who’s that one Lion you badly wanna see in #yellove this summer? #WhistlePodu and vote away.”

The excited fans came up with several names but the one name that dominated the voting was that of veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh. The fans voted for the World Cup-winning star in numbers, making it clear that they want to see IPL’s journeyman in the yellow jersey in the upcoming season. The fans also expressed their desire of seeing Yuvraj and MS Dhoniteaming up again.

Meanwhile, Yuvraj is having a hard time in his career in recent times as he has not played for India since being dropped after the tour of Caribbeans last year. He is currently playing Ranji Trophy for Punjab but has failed to do well, scoring 24, 4 and 9 in three innings.
