The cricketing fraternity is all looking forward to the most exciting event of this year that is the upcoming auctions for the 2018 season of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). While most of the franchises have retained a few of their crucial cogs, the auction is bound to be a star-studded event with incredible players will go under the hammer. Head coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise, Jacques Kallis recently shared his excitement regarding the upcoming affair.
The IPL 2018 auction is all set to take place in Bengaluru this weekend, on the 27th and 28th of January, 2018. The star players like Chris Gayle and Yuvraj Singh will be in the mix, amongst many other capped and uncapped players, both Indian and foreign origins. Teams will also be allowed to exercise a fixed number of Right to Match (RTM) cards in the process.

Kallis is one of the key decision makers for KKR and can very well be expected to figure in that table while they bid over players in the 2-day long auction. He posted a tweet, informing his fans and followers that he was off to India for the auction. He tweeted, “Travel day today to India. Exciting few days ahead. IPL auction time this weekend. Who is @KKRiders gonna have playing for them this year.”

The Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise previously chose to retain the Caribbean duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell via Direct Retention.

The buzz regarding the upcoming auction has already upset the balance in the cricketing world, especially in the ongoing season of the Big Bash League (BBL).
Big names including those of Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori and Brad Hodge will be having a clash in their routine similar to that of Kallis’ as they will fly in to India to participate in the IPL auction, as each serves as the coach for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) respectively. As a result, all these eminent figures will be choosing to sacrifice the BBL action for the IPL bidding.
