New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham may decide to say no to the national contract to participate in the T20 leagues around the world. The 32-year-old has been making all the right noises, especially in the ongoing inaugural SA20. Neesham has become one of the regulars for Pretoria Capitals contributing in all three facets of the game.

Having grabbed a stunning catch at a point in the tournament already, Jimmy Neesham added a couple of one-handed blinders to the list on Sunday, February 5 against Durban’s Super Giants. The Super Giants, with their campaign on the line, came out all guns blazing and amassed 76 runs in the powerplay.

Skipper Quinton de Kock led the charge for the Super Giants. However, the left-hander’s blistering 19-ball 43-run knock was cut short by Jimmy Neesham, who in his follow-through took a low one-handed catch to see the back of de Kock. Neesham was himself surprised that he held on to it as the ball was dying on him.

If that wasn’t enough, on the final ball of the 14th over of the Super Giants’ innings bowled by Josh Little, Wiaan Mulder played a shot through point. Still, Neesham flew with great anticipation to his right and got the dive perfectly executed to take another stunner.

The commentators too couldn’t keep their calm this time around as Mpumelelo ‘Pommie’ Mbangwa went berserk on air as he went ‘Ohhhh’ being pleasantly surprised by the take before saying, “You’ve done it again. You’ve done it again and again. I can’t believe it. Jimmy Neesham, what do you have for food?”

Neesham’s efforts in the field, however, were rendered inconsequential as Heinrich Klaasen smashed a 43-ball century to take Super Giants to a humongous total of 254. Capitals, who had rested some of their crucial cogs, including their regular captain having reached the semi-finals already, could muster only 103 runs and lost the game by 151 runs. Super Giants are still alive in the tournament, only by just.
