Chennai Super Kings youngster Kartik Sharma produced a memorable knock under pressure and celebrated his half-century with a viral silent gesture during the IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. The right-handed batter reached his fifty in style during the 15th over of Chennai’s innings. Facing experienced India pacer Mohammed Shami, Kartik received a fuller delivery outside off stump and used the width brilliantly to launch an inside-out six over the cover boundary.

As the ball disappeared into the stands, the youngster removed his helmet and celebrated by placing a finger on his lips, a gesture that immediately grabbed attention on social media. Kartik then pointed towards the Chennai Super Kings logo before acknowledging the dugout. It was his second half-century of IPL 2026 and another strong reminder of why CSK invested heavily in the young batter at the mega auction.
Chennai Super Kings secured Kartik Sharma for a massive ₹14.20 crore ahead of IPL 2026, and the youngster has already started repaying that faith with consistent performances in his debut season. With 244 runs from nine innings, he currently stands as CSK’s third-highest run-scorer this year.

Kartik’s innings came at a crucial moment for Chennai, who were under serious pressure after losing early wickets during the powerplay. Akash Singh triggered the collapse by dismissing captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Urvil Patel cheaply to reduce CSK to 52/4.

However, Kartik counterattacked brilliantly and steadied the innings with positive strokeplay. Dewald Brevis also played a valuable cameo, scoring 25 off 16 balls to support the recovery.
At the time of writing, Chennai Super Kings finished their innings at 187/5 in 20 overs, with Prashant Veer and Shivam Dube finishing the innings.
