Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured a bizarre moment in their IPL 2026 clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, as Krunal Pandya was run out in dramatic fashion following a costly mix-up with Jitesh Sharma. The incident unfolded during the final over when Lungi Ngidi delivered a short ball down the leg side.

Krunal attempted an ambitious hook but failed to connect, and the umpire signalled it wide. In a moment of confusion, Jitesh set off for a quick single, while Krunal hesitated and ended up stranded mid-pitch. Alert behind the stumps, KL Rahul collected the ball and fired it back to Ngidi, who completed the run-out with ease. Krunal’s stunned reaction said it all as he walked back in, visible frustration.

The chaos didn’t end there, as Jitesh himself struggled to make an impact, scoring a sluggish 14 off 20 deliveries before falling in the same over. Krunal’s brief stay also yielded just 12 runs off 10 balls, leaving RCB short of momentum in the closing stages.

Despite the late hiccup, Phil Salt played a pivotal role in stabilising the innings. The aggressive opener struck a fluent 63 off 38 balls, combining power with precision to anchor RCB’s total. Tim David added valuable runs with a brisk 26, while a few others chipped in with useful contributions to help the hosts reach 175.

For DC, it was a disciplined bowling performance. Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav, and skipper Axar Patel claimed two wickets each, maintaining pressure throughout the innings. While RCB posted a competitive total, they will reflect on missed opportunities, especially the avoidable run-out that disrupted their late surge.
