Former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer, known for cunning tweets and replies was at his wittiest best while replying to the former English skipper, Michael Vaughan, who took a dig at Team India after their below-par performance in the first T20I against England in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Vaughan took a cheeky dig at India, calling Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) a better T20 team than the national squad despite only a few points separating Eoin Morgan’s World No. 1 and Virat Kohli’s No. 2 team. Having made quite a few startling comments during the Test series, Vaughan had tweeted, “The @mipaltan are a better T20 team than @BCCI!!! #JustSaying.”

Jaffer, taking to social media, came up with a cheeky response as he wrote: “Not all teams are lucky enough to play four overseas players Michael.” Jaffer’s comment was widely shared on the micro-blogging site as he came up with a cheeky reference to the players who were born in other countries before representing England.

Chasing a modest target of 125, the visiting team went over the line in the 16th over. Jason Roy top-scored for the visitors, scoring 49 runs at the top to lay the foundation for an easy chase. With only 124 runs to defend, India needed early wickets to stand to get back into the game. Jason Roy led the chase, smashing 49 off 32 deliveries. Roy hit four boundaries and three sixes, before being trapped leg-before by Washington Sundar.

Team India came up with a poor batting display as the visitors had decided to bowl first. The Men in Blue could only manage 124 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Eoin Morgan’s decision to bowl first was justified by his bowlers as it difficult for the Indian top-order to survive.
