Kolkata Knight Riders wreaked havoc at the smallish Holkar Stadium, Indore as they managed to post 245/6 in their first innings. Andrew Tye did the major wicket-taking and took four out of six wickets to fall. On a flat batting track. Kolkata batsmen started feasting on Punjab’s bowling and really never stopped. The major strikers were Sunil Narine and Dinesh Karthik.

Earlier in the day, Ravi Ashwin won the toss and chose to chase at the Holkar stadium. KXIP made three changes to their playing XI from the last match. They today included Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch, and Barinder Sran. KKR meanwhile handed a debut to the West Indian fast bowler Javon Searles and brought back Shubhman Gill who was absent in the last match.

Australian opener made his intentions clear from the first over itself as he smacked two boundaries in the over bowled by Mohit Sharma. After two quiet overs, Narine smashed a straight shot that impacted heavily on Mujeeb’s wrist and Ashwin had to complete his over. It was here Narine switched on and he started hitting big. He thwacked Ashwin for a six and a four in the over.

In the last powerplay over, Chris Lynn was out in an unfortunate way as the ball deflected from his body to the stumps. Lynn had made 27 from 17 before getting out. Robin Uthappa proved to be a valuable ally to Narine’s onslaught from the other end.
