On August 18, 2017, it was proposed that the South Pavillion of the Stadium would be named after the former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The naming of the Pavillion is ready and the Jharkhand State Cricket Association had invited Dhoni to inaugurate a pavilion named after him at the JSCA stadium.

But the captain cool turned down the request very politely, Debashis Chakraborty the secretary of the Stadium said he had asked Dhoni to inaugurate the Stand before the beginning of the 3rd ODI to be played on 8th March. But Dhoni’s response to this was, “Dada mein toh isika hissa hu. Ghar ka ladka apne hi ghar mein kya inaugurate karega? (I am a part of this ground. How can a person inaugurate something in his own home?)” It was a very sweet gesture from the big finisher to the authorities.

India will take on the Australians for the 3rd ODI at Dhoni’s home ground and they will be with the mindset to win the series in the coming match itself. This will be the 5th One-Day International Match which will be played at Ranchi.

MS Dhoni will be the key in the Indian batting line-up as his vast experience can be seen how he has managed to stabilize his innings and change the match in favor of his home side, he has scored four times 50+ score against Australia before falling for a Golden duck against leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the Nagpur game. It would be very interesting to watch Dhoni bat against Australia at his home.

Many experts say this could be Dhoni’s farewell match at his home ground although MSD hasn’t declared anything about it yet his fans can take it as a big game for the playing legend.
