Despite the fact that the former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni has not have played competitive cricket in the past eight months or so, but the Chennai Super King’s (CSK) batting spearhead once again displayed- during a practice game- that he has still got it. The Chennai-based franchise is currently holding their pre-season preparatory camp at the Chepauk and Dhoni seems to be making maximum use of the opportunity to get himself into the groove before the real deal gets underway.

One of the many reasons why the 13th edition of the IPL is one of the most anticipated events among the fans is they’ll get to see MS on a cricket field for the very first time since India’s demoralizing loss against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals. He has been on the sabbatical since then and with every passing series that India played sans the former skipper during the 2019-20 season, question mark galore on the International future of the CSK spearhead.

In fact, such has been the contention around Dhoni’s future that one of the common questions asked by the Cricket Advisory Committee [CAC] while interviewing the candidates for the selectors was how they’ll deal with the Dhoni conundrum. Sunil Joshi was finally elected as the chief selector and he revealed that MS will only come in contention to make a national comeback.

Meanwhile, the fans will have to wait for few more days before they eventually get to see Dhoni back on the cricket field during IPL 2020 as it has been pushed for a 15 April start- as opposed to the original schedule where Mumbai Indians were supposed to lock horns with Chennai Super Kings on March 29th.
