While the Indian Test batsman Karun Nair has recently claimed that he had no conversation with the selectors and team management about his game, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has claimed that he personally spoke to Nair once the recent Test selection process against Windies was over.

Since March 2017, Nair hasn’t played an international game for the Indian cricket team. While he was in the Indian squad during the historic debutant Test match of Afghanistan and also recently toured in England during the five-match Test series, he wasn’t selected in the playing XI in any of those games while the new cricketer Hanuma Vihari got an opportunity on the England soil.

Now, without playing any game, Nair has been dropped from the two-match Test squad for the upcoming home Test series against Windies. Just ahead of that selection, Nair told that he had no communication with the selectors and team management about his game during the England tour.

Now, Prasad said, “I personally spoke to Karun soon after the selection of the Test Team against the West Indies and also told the ways to make a comeback. The selection committee is very very clear with regard to the communication process.”

Prasad further added, “Communication has always been the strong point of this committee. It’s really tough to inform any unpleasant news to any player. You need to have valid reasons to explain them about their exclusion though they may not agree with it.”

Prasad also claimed that his colleague Devang Gandhi spoke with Nair during India’s recent tour in England.

Prasad said, “Having said that we are very clear and candid in our communication process. My colleague Devang Gandhi spoke to Karun Nair at length in England to keep him motivated and wait for his opportunities.”

While Prasad admitted that Nair is in the scheme of things for Test cricket, the right-handed batsman needs to perform continue in domestic and India A matches.

Prasad said, “He will have to keep on piling runs in Ranji Trophy and whatever India A series is there. Karun is very much in the scheme of things for Test cricket. Right now, we have advised him to focus on performing in domestic and India A matches.”
