Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon has clearly said that he knows his role in the team after the second day’s play at Brisbane’s Gabba, where both England and Australia are fighting for the urn. He was seen in Twitter banter with former England keeper Matt Prior, where he claimed that Prior was ready to leave Australia during his team’s drubbing in Ashes 2013-14.

British media targeted him during the press conference but Lyon was calmed and said he is happy to take a bullet for his team. “I took a lot of pressure off Tim Paine and (uncapped opener) Cameron Bancroft, I thought you guys were a little bit smarter than that but it is what it is,” said Lyon.

“At the end of the day it’s a team game, I know my role in the Australian cricket team, I know that I am a leader, I know I am one of the most experienced guys in that change room.”

He further added, “So if I can go out there and share my experience with the younger guys then hopefully we can put Australian cricket in a good place.”

He is very happy with his bowling display in the recent time. In the ongoing Test, he took three important wickets, which reduced England to 304 all out in the first innings. “My bowling is coming out the best it’s come out. I am looking forward to the rest of this series,” Lyon concluded.

Australia was reeling at a moment on day two before skipper Steve Smith steadied the ship while Shaun Marsh was partnering him from the other end. The game closed with hosts managed 165 runs on the board after giving four quick wickets.
