It was a moment of pure anguish for Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani during IPL 2025 Qualifier 2, as a dropped catch by Trent Boult left her visibly heartbroken in the dugout. The crucial match against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad saw emotions run high, especially in that defining moment.

After being asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians put up a strong total of 203/6 in their 20 overs. While Rohit Sharma couldn’t make an impact, the rest of the batting unit stepped up. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma both scored valuable 44s, with Jonny Bairstow adding 38 at the top. Naman Dhir then played a blistering cameo—37 off just 18 balls—to take MI past the 200-run mark.

The bowlers began well, with Trent Boult giving Mumbai their first breakthrough by removing Prabhsimran Singh, thanks to a sharp running catch from Reece Topley. However, momentum quickly swung Punjab’s way when Josh Inglis took on Jasprit Bumrah and smashed him for 20 runs in a single over.

Mumbai bounced back, though, with Ashwani Kumar dismissing Priyansh Arya in the next over and Hardik Pandya removing Inglis shortly after to reduce Punjab Kings to 72 for 3. Then came the turning point—on the final ball of the 10th over, Hardik bowled a short delivery to Nehal Wadhera, who miscued a pull shot.

The top edge flew toward fine leg, and Boult was perfectly placed—but inexplicably spilled the catch. The camera immediately panned to Nita Ambani, who couldn’t hide her reaction. With her palm on her forehead, she slumped back into her seat, clearly dejected.

At the time of writing, Punjab Kings had reached 147/3 in the 15th over, with Nehal Wadhera and captain Shreyas Iyer looking steady at the crease in a high-stakes chase.
