Prabhsimran Singh lit up the Eden Gardens with an audacious display of strokeplay on Saturday (April 26), during the IPL 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Facing the legendary Sunil Narine, Prabhsimran played an outrageous switch hit for a six that left the crowd and commentators stunned.

After PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat, it was Priyansh Arya who took charge early, racing to 28 off just 11 balls, while Prabhsimran struggled for fluency, managing a run-a-ball 13 by the end of the fourth over. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman soon found his rhythm. In the fifth over, he struck Harshit Rana for a four and a six, signaling his intent.

The real fireworks came in the 11th over against Sunil Narine. Despite Narine conceding just 7 runs from his first two overs, Prabhsimran showed no hesitation in taking him on. After Priyansh launched the first ball of the over for a six, Prabhsimran followed with two sensational maximums.

The first of those was pure theatre — a tossed-up delivery from Narine was met with a perfectly executed switch hit, sending the ball soaring 77 meters over deep extra cover. At the time of writing, PBKS were cruising at 161/2 in the 16th over, with Glenn Maxwell and Shreyas Iyer at the crease.

Earlier, Prabhsimran and Priyansh had set the tone with a blistering 120-run opening stand. Andre Russell finally broke the partnership in the 12th over, dismissing Priyansh for a dazzling 69 off 35 balls, studded with eight fours and four sixes. Meanwhile, Prabhsimran Singh had brought up a well-deserved half-century and looked determined to convert it into a match-defining century.
