The Indian Test opener Prithvi Shaw has promised not to let down his idol Sachin Tendulkar. Shaw made his international debut on Thursday against the Windies. Soon after receiving his maiden Test cap by the skipper Virat Kohli, the youngster went out to open the innings for Team India. Despite losing his partner KL Rahul early at the other end, Prithvi Shaw scored at a brisk rate and soon got to a half-century.
Shaw went to Lunch on Day 1 just 20 runs away from a dream century to kick off his international career. He didn’t take too long to get the remaining runs and was clearly elated at having achieved a staggering feat. The youngster became the second youngest Indian to score a Test century on debut.
Obviously, there were lots of celebrations in the dressing room after his brilliant knock. But before all of that, Prithvi came on camera to thank his idol and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar for his praises. He has been repeatedly compared to Tendulkar for his fearlessness and for the records he has achieved as a young cricketer. Soon after his century, Sachin Tendulkar tweeted, “Lovely to see such an attacking knock in your first innings, @prithvishaw! Continue batting fearlessly. #INDvWI”
