Indian captain Virat Kohli is batting on a different planet since January 2016 and he has scored tons of runs in this 24-month period. In the recently concluded Test series against Sri Lanka, Kohli has shattered numerous records with bat and scored 610 runs.

Former skipper Rahul Dravid praised Kohli for his sensational performance and marked him the best batsman among the current crop along with his Australian counterpart.

Talking to Sports Talk, Dravid quoted “Kohli is playing very well. I will say he is one of the top batsmen in the world. We have to give him credit because he is able to maintain consistency across the three formats. It is very difficult at this level, at this standard. According to me, apart from Kohli, Steve Smith has also been consistent across formats.”

In the Delhi Test, Kohli crossed the 200-run mark in Test cricket for the sixth time and overtook Dravid in the list of most double hundreds for India in the longest format. Now, he ties in the list with former greats Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.

The 29-year-old has a record-breaking 2017, where he shamed most international centuries in a calendar year by any captain. Also, he crossed 2,500 run mark for the second consecutive year, which made his the only ever batsman to achieve this feat.

Kohli has been rested for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, which stopped him from achieving another massive record, currently held by Kumar Sangakkara with 2868 runs. He is just 51-run short to score most international runs in a calendar year.
