Rashid Khan reminded everyone why he’s among the most valuable assets in world cricket with a jaw-dropping catch to dismiss Travis Head during the Gujarat Titans’ clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 2. Chasing a daunting 225, SRH were off to a flyer. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head came out all guns blazing, peppering the boundary ropes and keeping the Titans under pressure.

In just four overs, SRH had raced to 45/0, looking poised to make a serious dent in the massive target. But just when Gujarat needed a breakthrough, Rashid Khan delivered — not with the ball, but with an extraordinary piece of fielding brilliance.

On the third ball of the fifth over, Prasidh Krishna dug in a short ball that Travis Head attempted to pull. However, Head failed to get the desired connection, sending the ball high into the Ahmedabad night. It looked likely to drop in an empty pocket between deep square leg and midwicket.

That’s when Rashid sprang into action. Charging in from deep square, he covered serious ground and timed a perfect slide on his knees to pluck the ball out of the air with both hands. The catch left the crowd stunned and his teammates elated, with skipper Shubman Gill and others rushing to celebrate the game-changing moment.

Head walked back after scoring a promising 20 off 16 balls, while SRH were 63/1 in 7 overs with Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan at the crease.
