One has to say that Australia has put life in the dull looking T20I series by winning the 2nd T20I in Guwahati and leveled the series by 1-1, thanks to the magical spell of Jason Behrendorff, who dismissed 4 Indian batsmen in the 2nd T20I in Guwahati.

On a damp looking pitch, David Warner asked India to bat first at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, which made its international debut. It had also been expected that dew might come into play as Virat Kohli also admitted he would have preferred to bowl first.

Australi was looking to stay alive in the series and hence they brought Marcus Stoinis back to replace Daniel Christian and that means Glenn Maxwell got another chance, with India were unchanged.

First innings of the match innings can be summed up in two words – Jason Behrendorff as he dismissed Rohit and Kohli in the first over. Warner persisted with him and he rewarded him by scalping Pandey and Dhawan.

However, Kedar Jadhav looked good in the 27 runs he scored but got out to a lose shot off Zampa, who deceived MS Dhoni as well. Hardik Pandya again tried to do some rescue job but only manage to take India to 118 in 20 overs.

Every Australian bowler got a wicket with Behrendorff producing the 3rd best figures for an Australian bowler in T20Is.

Despite the fact that the men in blue picked early wickets of David Warner and Aaron Finch by Bhuneshwar and Jasprit Bumrah, but Travis Head and Moises Henriques anchored the chase well and after some cautious batting, opened their hands once the Indian spinners came on board.

Both Head and Henriques made sure that India’s winning streak of 7 T20Is over Australia came to an end at Guwahati. Kuldeep Yadav had a really off day with 46 runs off his 4 overs.

The last and final T20I will be played at Hyderabad, which will decide the winner of the T20I series.

Brief scores:

India: 118 (K Jadhav 27, J Behrendroff 4/21) defeated by Australia: 122/2 (M Henriques62*, T Head 48*) by 8 wickets.
