Team India chased down the target of 270 in the first One-Day International against South Africa by 6 wickets to go 1-0 up in the series. Virat Kohli (112) was the anchor of this magnificent chase while Ajinkya Rahane matched every step with his skipper during a record 189-run stand for the third wicket.

In search of their first ever ODI win in Durban, Team India was off to a shaky start as both openers got out after getting a start. Rohit Sharma miscued a shot while Shikhar Dhawan was rather unlucky and a miscommunication with Kohli cut his innings short.

Outcomes Rahane notched up his fifth consecutive fifty in the ODI cricket and maybe sealed the tricky number four spot for himself. He got out after a stroke-filled 79, which includes 5 fours and 2 sixes.

On the other hand, Kohli was very fluent since his arrival at the crease and registered his 33rd ODI ton in no time. During this knock, he scored his first ever ODI hundred in the rainbow nation apart from equaling Sourav Ganguly’s record for most ODI hundreds by an Indian skipper.

The second ODI match will take place in Centurion’s SuperSport Park on Sunday (February 4).
