Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting said he is hopeful that South Africa seamer, Anrich Norje and explosive Australia opener David Warner will be available for selection for their next IPL 2022 match against Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday. DC has been missing Nortje, Warner, and Mitchell Marsh for the first two games. Despite beginning their campaign with a victory over Mumbai Indians, the former finalists were beaten by 14 runs by Gujarat Titans in their 2nd IPL 2022 game in Pune.
Nortje has joined the DC camp in Mumbai but he has been awaiting clearance from Cricket South Africa. The tearaway fast bowler was sidelined after last year’s T20 World Cup after suffering a back and hip injury. On the other hand, Warner arrived in India late as he was part of the Australia squad for the recently-concluded Test series in Pakistan.

As per the quotes in India Today, Ricky Ponting said, “I think he (Nortje) has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100 percent capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go.”
Ricky Ponting confirmed that Warner will be available for selection for their next match, which comes after a 4-day break. There were concerns about the availability of Mitchell Marsh as he was ruled out of the limited-overs series in Pakistan due to a hip injury but Ponting believes he can be available sooner than later.

Explaining it further, Ricky Ponting said, “Davey should be there for the next game and Mitch Marsh for the game after. He (Marsh) picked up that slight hip flexor strain in Pakistan. So we need to get a lot of treatment work into him and obviously a few good training sessions before he is available for selection.”
Delhi are currently fourth in the IPL points table after winning one and losing one.
