The Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 19 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow saw tempers flare yet again — this time between LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and his own teammate, spinner Digvesh Rathi. The reason? Rathi’s over-the-top notebook celebration following Ishan Kishan’s dismissal.
Ishan Kishan, who began IPL 2025 with a sensational century, has since failed to replicate that brilliance. His form has taken a nosedive, and his struggles were on display once again against LSG. Despite scoring 35 runs, the SRH wicketkeeper-batsman looked out of sorts, taking 28 balls to get there with three boundaries and two sixes. His timing and shot selection seemed off throughout the innings.

His painful stay at the crease ended in the 12th over, when Digvesh Rathi outfoxed him with a well-disguised googly at 96.7 kmph. The ball pitched outside leg and spun sharply, beating Kishan’s attempted reverse sweep to crash into the stumps. Rathi, clearly pumped up after the wicket, broke into his trademark notebook celebration, jotting down another name on his imaginary list.

But not everyone was amused — especially Rishabh Pant. The LSG captain appeared visibly annoyed by Rathi’s theatrics, especially considering the spinner had just been involved in a heated on-field exchange with Abhishek Sharma a few minutes earlier. Pant walked up to Rathi and had a serious word, seemingly asking him to tone things down.
