Riyan Parag has provided a major update on his fitness journey after successfully undergoing shoulder surgery, bringing relief to fans who have been closely following his recovery. The Rajasthan Royals captain revealed that the procedure went smoothly and expressed optimism about returning to competitive cricket once he completes his rehabilitation.

The talented Assam all-rounder has been battling recurring shoulder problems for nearly two years. Despite the discomfort, Parag continued to play through the pain and remained committed to both domestic and international assignments. The injury, however, eventually affected his availability and progression with Team India following his international debut in 2024.
Sharing the update on Instagram, Riyan Parag opened up about the physical and mental challenges he has faced during this difficult period. “Well, the shoulder finally won 😅. For everyone who’s been asking, the surgery is done and went well,” Parag wrote.

“The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge. But I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Now comes a different challenge—recovery, rehab and patience. I’ll be back doing what I love soon. See you on the other side.”

With the surgery completed, Parag’s immediate focus will shift toward rehabilitation and regaining full fitness. Before making his return to competitive cricket, he will need to clear fitness assessments at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Team management and selectors are expected to closely monitor his progress over the coming months.
Parag’s absence has been felt significantly, especially after an impressive IPL 2026 campaign. Appointed Rajasthan Royals captain ahead of the season, he led the franchise to the playoffs in his first year as skipper. The Royals eventually finished third after suffering a narrow defeat against the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.

The injury also forced Parag to miss India’s ongoing A tour of Sri Lanka. He had initially been selected as vice-captain of the squad, highlighting the faith selectors have in his leadership and all-round abilities. In his absence, Ruturaj Gaikwad stepped in and has already made a strong impact with a century and a half-century in his first two innings. For now, the spotlight remains firmly on Parag’s recovery. If his rehabilitation progresses smoothly, Indian cricket could soon welcome back one of its most exciting young all-rounders.
