The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) managed to defend their title in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 after defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final. This was their fifth IPL title and second on the trot. With the victory in IPL 2020, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai has managed to end their jinx of winning the T20 title only in the odd years.

MI had won their maiden title in 2013 under Rohit’s captaincy and then they emerged victorious in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Thus, many felt that Mumbai will not be able to defend their title this year as this is an even year. However, Rohit Sharma and his men defied all the odds and thrashed the Capitals comfortably by 5 wickets to win IPL for a record 5 times.

After having a triumphant IPL season in an even year, the skipper Rohit took a hilarious jibe on all the people who were talking about MI’s even-year jinx. The veteran opener shared an old commercial saying ‘his side went even this year’.

The commercial shared by Rohit was launched by the broadcasters ahead of the IPL 2020. In the commercial, he can be seen interacting with his superstitious uncle who is suggesting the MI skipper to change odd-numbered things around him to even-numbered so that MI can win the cup in 2020. To this, Rohit replied that all the people are making a fool out of his uncle as this is an odd season only.

Sharing the old commercial, Rohit Sharma, wrote, “We indeed went even this season. Bola tha aapko mamu inki ganit weak hai”.

The captain of Mumbai Indians had a lukewarm season as he also suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Kings XI Punjab. However, this didn’t affect the team’s performance as they finished at the top of the points table with 18 points after the league stage. He ended the season with 332 runs in 12 matches at an average of over 27 and a strike rate of 127.69.
