The Indian stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan were seen thanking the Indian fans by taking a lap around the Holkar Stadium in Indore to acknowledge the support the team received during their 3rd match in the ongoing Road Safety World Series. India Legends’ match against New Zealand was washed out due to rain after only 5.5 overs of play on Monday, September 19.

Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha came out to open the innings amid thunderous reception from fans as the famous “Sachin, Sachin” chants reverberated through the stadium. Tendulkar did not disappoint as the legendary batter hit 4 boundaries during his 13-ball 19 not out before it started pouring in Indore. Tendulkar took fans down memory lane by playing a near-perfect ‘Dil-scoop’ in Kyle Mills’s over.

Naman Ojha perished after smashing six and 2 boundaries for his 15-ball 18. He was dismissed by New Zealand great Shane Bond. However, Tendulkar looked solid against a solid New Zealand bowling line-up that included Bond, Mills, Jacob Oram, and Hamish Bennett. Suresh Raina joined Tendulkar in the middle and the former India all-rounder hit a six for his 7-ball 9 not out.

India was at 49 for 1 in 5.5 overs when rain played spoilsport. Taking to social media, pacer Vinay Kumar shared a video of the India Legends players thanking the crowd after the match was called off due to rain. Irfan Pathan took to Instagram and said: “It’s a pity we couldn’t play in front of this wonderful crowd. Thank you Indore for the love.”

Notably, India Legends have been part of two back-to-back rain-affected games in the Road Safety World Series.

After they defeated South Africa Legends by 61 runs to begin their campaign on a winning note in Road Safety World Series 2022, their second match against West Indies Legends in Green Park, Kanpur was washed out due to rain on Wednesday, September 14. India Legends will next face England Legends at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on Thursday, September 22.
