Sachin Tendulkar, the cricketing legend, returned to the field in the One World One Family Cup Charity Match held on January 18 at the Sai Krishnan Cricket Stadium in Sathya Sai Grama, Bengaluru. Leading the One World team, which included stalwarts like Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Danny Morrison, Tendulkar’s comeback stirred emotions, notably capturing the attention of his daughter Sara Tendulkar.
Sara expressed her sentiments on Instagram, sharing videos of her father in action with the caption ‘Nostalgia’ accompanied by a crying emoji. She further posted a short clip of Tendulkar batting, embellishing it with a heart emoji, showcasing the emotional connection between the legendary cricketer and his family.

The charity match, organized by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission, aimed to raise awareness about child healthcare. It marked the inaugural game at the newly constructed venue, culminating in a four-wicket victory for Tendulkar’s One World team over the One Family side.

Batting first, the One Family team saw openers Darren Maddy and Romesh Kaluwitharana contributing significantly. Maddy’s brilliant fifty (51 off 41) guided the team to a total of 180/6 in their 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh, Monty Panesar, and other bowlers chipped in with crucial wickets.

In response, the One World team, under Tendulkar’s leadership, initiated a solid chase with a brisk start from openers Tendulkar and Naman Ojha. Alviro Petersen’s outstanding innings of 74 (50) and contributions from other players, including Upul Tharanga and Irfan Pathan, led One World to successfully chase down the target.
With 181 runs on the board, they secured the victory by four wickets in 19.5 overs. The match not only showcased the cricketing prowess of legends but also served a noble cause in promoting child healthcare awareness through the medium of sports.
