Sherfane Rutherford To Miss Remaining IPL 2021 After Father’s Demise

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batsman, Sherfane Rutherford will be missing the remaining part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as he has unfortunately lost his father. He has decided to leave the bio-secure bubble of SRH in the UAE and fly back home to be with his family in tough times.

Informing the same on Twitter, SRH wrote: ” The #SRH family conveys its heartfelt condolences to Sherfane Rutherford and his family on the passing away of his father. Sherfane will be leaving the IPL bio-bubble to be with his family in this difficult hour.”

Sherfane Rutherford was roped-in by SRH ahead of the UAE leg of the IPL 2021 as a replacement of Jonny Bairstow, who pulled off from the season citing personal reasons. He didn’t feature in the playing XI in SRH’s loss to the Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. Sherfane Rutherford was in phenomenal form during the CPL 2021, as he amassed 262 runs at an average of 37.42 and struck 3 fifties, helping St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the title.

The covid-19 has once again hit the IPL 2021 again as SRH fast bowler, T Natarajan has tested positive for COVID-19 in Dubai after a scheduled RT-PCR test. The player has isolated himself from the rest of the squad, however, he has not shown any symptoms of the virus so far. 

The medical team has identified six people from the SRH contingent who came in contact with T Natarajan and they all are isolated from the other member of the squad. The members who came in contact are, Vijay Shankar, Team Manager – Vijay Kumar, Physiotherapist – Shyam Sundar J, Doctor – Anjana Vannan, Logistics Manager – Tushar Khedkar, and Net Bowler – Periyasamy Ganesan.

Kane Williamson’s team is languishing at the bottom of the table with 7 losses in 8 matches, and practically their chances of qualifying for teh playoff seems zero. SRH next meet Punjab Kings in Sharjah on Saturday.
