Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan is enjoying the darkest shade of the purple patch in his cricketing career. He has scored 3 centuries so far in the ongoing Sri Lankan tour.
Shikhar had a pretty smooth transition from Test cricket to ODIs, by scoring an unbeaten hundred in the 1st ODI at Dambulla, which helped the visitors win by 9 wickets. He has always been known for his risk-taking style of play and that is one of the reasons that he is named as ‘Gabbar’ by his team-mates.
Dhawan’s nickname is actually inspired by the epic Indian movie- ‘Sholay’. However, He is a totally opposite character. He is known as one of the nicest cricketers and is always seen having a good time both on and off the field.
In an interview with Cricket Today, Dhawan revealed that his favorite actor is Aamir Khan and his favorite actress is Kareena Kapoor. But surprisingly, 3 Idiots isn’t his favorite movie as John Avildsen’s Rocky (1976), starring Sylvester Stallone is the all-time favorite movie of the Delhite.
Shikhar also revealed that Lord’s is his favorite cricket ground. When asked about his favorite cricketer, he said it is none other than the master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
In his career of 87 ODIs, Dhawan has amassed as many as 3721 runs at an average of 45.37, along with 11 centuries and 21 fifties. In Tests, the southpaw has scored 1822 runs from 26 Tests at an impressive average of 43.38. However, when it comes to the T20s, Dhawan has scored a couple of the fifties from 23 games, along with a strike rate of over 115.
