The last time Sri Lanka was a bit satisfied was when they defeated India at ICC Champions Trophy and after that, the Lankans have done worse. A whitewash against the world no. 1 side in the test series and for the first time having such a fate at the home season.

Just when Upul Tharanga has appealed to his fans to support them in the ODI series and asked them to stay positive, things got worsened. They couldn’t even put up a fight against India getting bowled out in the 43rd over. Later the Indian Skipper and opener Dhawan did all the damages to give India a lead in the five-match series.

Though Dickwella and partnerships between Gunaratne and Kushal Mendis gave a good start to the Lankans they failed to deliver best as wickets started to fall in quick succession. Axar Patel was the star of the match clinching three wickets to his name and Chahal too got two wickets.

But the fans took it too much to digest on yet another loss of their team. 50 fans shouted slogans and booed the local players forcing security personnel to step in. According to reports, the player’s bus was held out the stadium for almost 30 minutes.

According to Nic Potha, the coach of the Lankan team the fact of such a failure is due to “too many cooks” that’s spoiling the team. He fails to find out the correct winning combination. Fans around were disappointed to see India chasing down a 217-run target in under 29 overs. A thing to get furious about totally!

“You do get angry – to say ‘too many cooks’ is probably accurate,” Pothas told reporters.

“Am I angry with the players? Absolutely not. The players work as hard as anyone can ask of them. They’ve been superb. Support staff has been out of this world. Brilliant. They work endless hours with planning and helping the boys. You can’t fault anyone within that changing room,” he added.
