Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni-less Indian team suffered a massive defeat in the fourth One-Day International against New Zealand at Hamilton. While regular skipper Kohli has been rested for the remainder of the tour, Dhoni couldn’t make to the final XI due to an injured hamstring. India is leading the series by 3-1 with one game is yet to be played.
The Indian batting line-up fell like nine pins and was bundled for a mere 92. Trent Bolt and Collin De Grandhomme made most of the bowling friendly conditions and picked five and three wickets respectively. After a rare failure of top-order, Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik couldn’t make out of a golden opportunity and both were dismissed for a duck.

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar feels Karthik has to make a way for Dhoni in the final ODI. The veteran wicketkeeper is all likely to get fit before the Wellington ODI and can be seen in action.
“My feeling is that they will have Dhoni come in place of Karthik. This is probably the one change that I can foresee. About the other changes, it will totally depend on the kind of pitch that they see. I don’t see too much changes coming up,” said Gavaskar ahead of the final ODI.

Furthermore, he defended Shubhman Gill, who made his international debut at Hamilton, and said he should get another opportunity. “Shubhman will certainly get another opportunity,” Gavaskar quoted while talking to Star Sports.
After a disappointing 2018 with the bat, MS Dhoni is looking in great form since the start of 2019. During India’s tour of Australia, he scored three half-centuries in three matches and was named the man of the series. He is only dismissed only once in five ODI games that he played this year. All eyes will be glued on him after India’s disappointing display from the bat.
