Sri Lankan cricket team is about to face in the ongoing 3-match Test series against India and now they have started to reinforce their coaching support staff.
On Tuesday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had appointed former fast-bowler Rumesh Ratnayake, who will be replacing Champaka Ramanayke as their fast-bowling coach. The team consists legendary pacer Chaminda Vaas as its bowling coach, but now Vaas’ role becomes unclear that if he will continue after the India series or work under the direction of Ratnayake.

About the appointment of Ratnayake, SLC stated, “SLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Rumesh Ratnayake as the head of fast bowling for SLC. He will head the National Fast Bowling program, spearheading its talent identification, skills development and training processes in cohesion with the National High-Performance plan.”
Ratnayake played 23 Tests and 70 ODIs for Sri Lanka and after that, his prolonged career was cut short by injury. He was also the fast bowling coach of the Lankan team, along with Vaas, during the 2015 World Cup too.
