After the devastating response to T20 cricket, UAE fans will now be witnessing the revolutionary T10 cricket, and that too involving their favorite cricketers. Shaji Ul Mulk, the UAE-based businessman, launched T10 cricket league in Dubai on Tuesday, which will see many big names.
The new format like T10 will definitely make an instant impact and it will be as entertaining as a fan can expect. Players like former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle will be participating in the tournament.
During the launch of the tournament, Afridi was pretty excited for it as he said, “When I was told of the T10 league I jumped and said that ‘please I want to play this’.”
The matches will take place in Sharhaj in December 2017, the games will be played out over four days time, with each match lasting 90 minutes. Explaining it further, Mulk said, “We all have played ten overs a side on the streets of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh but at a higher level this league will provide a better implementation of this.”
Kumar Sangakkara, Sehwag, and Afridi are the brand ambassadors, while Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan, and Misbah-ul-Haq were named team icons. Morgan said, “We all remember the days when Twenty20 cricket was launched and it impacted the other formats of the game. If this new format takes off I am sure it will also have an impact on the other three forms of the game.”
Even the former Pakistan captain, Misbah also shared his excitement, he said, “I am excited and this format gives a chance to the aging players like me because it needs just ten overs of batting and another ten for fielding so for my age it’s sustainable.”
