Indian skipper Virat Kohli is facing criticism from left, right, and center and India’s dismal performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE, where they have lost their first two league matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. India have a very slim chance to make it to the semi-final.

From fans to former cricketers, everyone is targeting Virat Kohli for India’s poor performance. However, former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin came in support of Kohli and said its collective failure of the Indian team, not only of Kohli.

“Virat Kohli is facing criticism but it’s the entire team and the coaches that have failed and not just one man. It turned out to be a scary Halloween for Indian fans. #INDvsNZ #T20WORLDCUP,” said Azharuddin in a tweet.

Meanwhile, skipper Virat Kohli didn’t hesitate in admitting that his side got entirely outplayed against the Kiwis. He also said Team India wasn’t able to execute its plans precisely.

“I don’t think we were brave enough with bat or ball. We didn’t have much to defend but we weren’t brave when we walked onto the field. Whenever we looked to take the game on, we lost a wicket. That happens in T20 cricket when some hesitation set in,” Kohli said after the match.

India’s batting line-up failed to post a defendable total against Pakistan and New Zealand. They failed to tackle the fast bowlers upfront. The bowlers couldn’t do much with a low score to defend on the board.

India will try to come good against Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia in their remaining league matches. There are a few equations that can help India to make a top-two finish in the points table.
