The Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2021 has started with Australia and South Africa’s game. Now, England and West Indies are facing each other in the repeat of T20 WC 2016’s final which West Indies won.

Adil Rashid

Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl first. David Willy, Tom Curran, Sam Billings and Mark Wood are sitting out for England. West Indies left out Hayden Walsh, Oshane Thomas, Roston Chase and Andre Fletcher.

Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis walked out to start the proceeding for West Indies. England didn’t take long to separate the two openers as Chris Woakes removed Lewis. Moeen Ali removed Simmons in the next over as West Indies were jolted early.

Shimron Hetmyer played a few shots but Moeen Ali outfoxed him as well. Chris Gayle also failed to hang around for long and perished against Tymal Mills as West Indies were 31/4 in 50 overs. England bowlers kept chipping up wickets at regular intervals as West Indies crumbled to 55 in 14.2 overs. Gayle (13) was the top scorer while Adil Rashid grabbed four wickets for two runs in 2.2 overs.

Moeen Ali and Tymal Mills registered identical bowling figures with both picking up two wickets for 17 runs. However, Moeen bowled a maiden over as well in his spell. Chris Jordan and Woakes grabbed one wicket apiece.

In response, England openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler started the chase in fine fashion with boundaries coming in each over. Roy got out for 11 runs to Ravi Rampaul while Jonny Bairstow got out to Akeal Hosein after scoring just 9 runs as England were 30/2 in 4.1 overs. Moeen Ali got run out after a mix-up.

Akeal Hosein, then, grabbed a super one-handed flying catch to dismiss Liam Livingstone on his own bowling. Things looked messy for England as they were 39/4 in 6.1 overs. Eoin Morgan joined Jos Buttler in the middle and ensured there is no further hiccups as England won the game with six wickets in hand and 70 balls to spare.
