The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has named the replacement of injured Steven Finn for the upcoming Ashes series Down Under. Surrey fast-bowler Tom Curran will replace him in the squad and will fly to Australia on Wednesday to join rest of the team. Finn has been ruled out of the Test series post left knee injury.
The 22-year-old has made his International debut earlier this year, but he is yet to make his first Test appearance. In his two T20 International matches against South Africa, he bagged five wickets and opened his ODI wicket count with a dismissal of Chris Gayle.
However, he is a very talented bowler and can move the ball in both ways. His stats in the first-class cricket justify his capability, where he has snared 171 wickets in 51 matches at an average below 30. Also, he is a handy batsman at lower down the order.
Now, Curran will fight for the fourth pacer’s spot along with Craig Overton and Jake Ball. He is most probably to feature in the third warm-up match, which will be the last game before the series opener in Brisbane. The first Test will kick off from November 23 and both teams will fight their heart out for the urn.
