Australia tour of South Africa in 2017/18 was full of controversial incident. Quinton de Kock and David Warner controversy happened on the day four of the first Test of the four-match Test series at Kingsmead (Durban) in early March 2018.  A CCTV footage revealed that then Australian vice-captain David Warner had a heated exchange with the Protease wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock in the stairwell during the tea-break of that day. The Warner was looking so angry that his teammates needed to involve controlling him.

According to some reports, de Kock had made some personal comments about Warner’s wife. However, there was no perfect report about that.

After that match, ICC took strict actions against both the players. While Warner received three demerit points along with the 75% match fee fined, Quinton de Kock received one demerit point along with 25% match fee deduction.

During the second Test of the series at Port Elizabeth, it was reported that two senior Cricket South Africa (CSA) officials had worn Sonny Bill Williams’ mask along with few fans. The centre stage of that incident was David Warner’s wife Candice Warner’s tryst with Sonny Bill Williams during 2008, even when she had not met with David Warner. That incident had hurt more in that series.
