Bangladesh clinched a memorable victory over the hosts Sri Lanka in the third T20I of 2018 Nidahas Trophy at RPS (Colombo). Chasing down their record target of 215 runs, Bangladesh reached that in 19.4 overs after losing 5 wickets.

At earlier, Bangladesh decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Sri Lanka managed to put a big total 214/6 on the board at the end of 20 overs.

After having a good opening partnership, Sri Lankan batsmen continuously dominated over the Bangladeshi bowlers. After the opening batsman, Danushka Gunathilaka was dismissed on 26 runs, another opener Kusal Mendis and no.3 batsman Kusal Perera put 85-runs partnership for the second wicket.

Mendis lost his wicket on 57 runs and then Sri Lanka suffered a small batting collapse before Upul Tharanga took the charge.

Perera and Tharanga put another superb 55-runs partnership for the fifth wicket. Perera was sent back to the pavilion in the last over after playing a brilliant knock of 74 runs.

Tharanga played a brilliant cameo role as he remained unbeaten on 32 runs off just 15 balls as Sri Lanka put 214/6 (20 overs) on the board.

Among the seven Bangladeshi bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman (3/48) took three wickets and Mahmudullah (2/15) picked up two wickets. Apart from that, Taskin Ahmed (1/40) also claimed a wicket.

In reply, every top-order Bangladeshi batsmen made the important contributions in that innings. Bangladesh began their innings in a smashing way. In the powerplay, they scored 74/1.

While opener Liton Das scored 43 runs in just 19 balls, another opener Tamim Iqbal was dismissed on 47 runs off 29 balls.

Later, Mushfiqur Rahim took the responsibly to finish the match while Soumya Sarkar (24) and skipper Mahmudullah (20) put some important contributions.

Mushfiqur Rahim played a brilliant knock of unbeaten 72 runs off just 35 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. His knock led the team till the end to secure the emphatic victory. Bangladesh (215/5) reached the target in 19.4 overs after losing 5 wickets as they won by 5 wickets with 2 balls to spare.

Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, Nuwan Pradeep (2/37) picked up two wickets while Dushmantha Chameera (1/44) and Thisara Perera (1/36) were able to pick up a piece of wicket each.

Mushfiqur Rahim was selected the Player of the Match award for his brilliant match-winning batting performance.
