Team India locked horns with Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After winning the toss, the visiting skipper Mahmudullah decided to bowl first citing a heavy dew in the latter half of the innings. India’s stand-in skipper, Rohit Sharma also would’ve preferred the same. India only managed to reach a total of 148/6 in their quota of 20 overs and the visitors chased it down with 7 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare.
Bangladesh has outplayed India by seven wickets to go 1-0 up in the three-match T20I series. Mushfiqur Rahim helped the Tigers to register their maiden victory over the Men in Blue in the shortest format. Mahmdullah and Soumya Sarkar also supported Rahim well as the visiting team finally managed to defeat India.

But, Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Naim by building pressure with dot balls and then kept a check on the run-scoring as well. The required run-rate soared up to 12 even as Bangladesh had eight wickets in hand. Meanwhile, Rahim got lucky as India did not review a couple of lbw decisions and was also almost run-out at the start of the innings. Krunal Pandya dropped Rahim as well which turned out to be crucial and eventually the dropped catch hurt India.
The equation had come down 25 runs off 12 balls. But Khaleel gave away as many as 21 runs in the over by conceding four boundaries off the last four balls and the game was done and dusted there itself. Bangladesh sealed the game in the final over without much fuss to take a lead in the three-match series.
Earlier, Rohit in the very first over of the innings. However, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t up the ante and the hosts failed to score at a fair clip in the powerplay. The leggie Aminul Islam then struck in his first over to send back Rahul. Shreyas Iyer threw his hand at almost everything and looked impressive as well. But he played one shot too many off Aminul and was caught in the deep to leave India reeling at 70/3 in the 11th over.

Many narratives in that matchwining knock from Mushfiqur Rahim. Amongst other things, it will help him to somewhat exorcise the ghost of 2016👏👏👏👏. Congrats @BCBtigers .

No Shakib, no Tamim, no Saifuddin and despite all the off-field issues, Bangladesh have done something no other Bangladesh team did in the past – beat India in a T20I. Tbh, they were the better side. #INDvBAN
