Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has received a fine for maintaining a slow over-rate during the sixth match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The RCB captain has been fined ₹12 lakh relating to minimum over-rate offenses.

In a statement regarding the same, IPL Governing Council said, “Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on 24 September 2020. As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Kohli was fined ₹12 lakhs.”

Virat Kohli had a forgettable day at the field and would be looking to make a strong comeback as quickly as possible. He dropped KXIP skipper, KL Rahul twice and the latter made sure that RCB pays for it as he was dropped he was playing at the scores of 83 and 89 and then he amassed 132 off just 69 balls. he RCB captain managed to score just 1 before being sent back by Sheldon Cottrell.

RCB witnessed a huge loss by 97 runs against KXIP in the match on Thursday.

KXIP skipper KL Rahul played an unbeaten knock of 132* off 69 balls as he helped his side post a huge target of 207 for RCB. With this knock, Rahul also managed to surpass the record of the highest individual score by an Indian player in the IPL.

Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin then took three wickets each in the match as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bundled out RCB for 109 runs. RCB will now be locking horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2020 on September 28.
