Washington Sundar Is Disappointed To Miss England Test Series With Injury

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar has returned home from England after getting injured in the lead-up to the Test series against England. He injured his finger during the warm-up game which ruled him out of the series.

Sundar was playing for County Select XI against Indians in the three-day warm-up game and was got bounced out by Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj. The ball kissed his glove before going to the slip cordon and might have injured his finger there.

He was picked for County Select XI after their players were forced to isolate themselves after coming in contact with Covid-19. He, along with Avesh Khan, played for County Select XI and, ironically, both got injured during the match and were sent home to nurse their injuries.

Meanwhile, upon returning home, Sundar expressed his disappointment to miss the series. He revealed his feeling on Twitter with a selfie from the plane.

He wrote, “Hard to be missing out and going back. A big thank you for all your good wishes for my recovery.”

India and England will play five-match Test series, starting from August 4 in Nottingham’s Trent Bridge. The series will, then, move to the Lord’s, Headingley, Kia Oval and Old Trafford. The five-match tussle will end on September 14.

Sundar has been amazing for India in his short Test career so far. He has played so match-defining innings so far. In his debut Test against Australia at the Gabba, he scored a vital fifty and shared a crucial partnership with Shardul Thakur to help India win the historic match and the series.

Later on, he got the opportunity against England in home conditions and he shone with the bat there as well.
