After facing a demoralizing loss in the first T20I of the three-match series in Wellington, Team India enter the Eden Park in Auckland with the determination to make a comeback. After winning the toss, the Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson decided to bat first and surprisingly, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also wanted to chase. Another surprising thing happened as both the skippers decided not to make any changes in the squad. It was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who drew the first blood for India followed by Krunal Pandya running through them.
In the last over of the powerplay, Krunal was bowling his first over of the match and dismissed Colin Munro and Daryl Harper in the same over. However, the latter dismissal became a bit controversial due to some confusion with the DRS call.
On the second ball of the over, Krunal got the wicket of Munro, who hit the ball straight to cover. He got underneath the length of the delivery, hit it really well but failed to get any elevation. It can be termed as a good catch by Rohit.

However, the second wicket created some drama, Krunal found Mitchell right in front of the stumps and umpire agreed to him as well, but Daryl had reviewed upon the insistence of his skipper. In the replay, it could’ve been seen that there was a spot on the bat, on hotspot as ball passes the bat – possibly because there was an inside edge – and the bat wasn’t hitting the pad as well.

However, after the Snickometer replay, there was no spike and hence the third umpire decided to go for ball tracking which showed all three reds, so Mitchell has to walk back. As soon as the decision was given, Williamson quickly expressed his disagreement to the umpire and Mitchell was asked to stop, even as he started to make the long walk back. Dhoni has a word with Williamson and the umpire, Rohit was also looking confused, but in the end, Mitchell has to go. The only way he could’ve survived was if Rohit called him back.
